CHAPTER TWELVE
Oriyah
My eyes fluttered open, and I was surprised to see that I was no longer in the sanctum. Instead, I was outside laying under the trees my head on Quincyâs lap. It took my brain a few minutes to register where I was and what happened. The last thing I remember is being hoisted in the air and feeling an electric surge of energy rushing through my body. âRiyah! Oh my God guys, sheâs awake!â Quincy yelled cupping my check in her hands. Persephlyn rushed to my side, followed by Leonard and Fapha. Together they hoisted me up to my feet holding me steady anytime I would wobble. Iris approached me holding her Qwa and using it as a light to look into my eyes. The world around me still sounded fairly muffled, so I was doing my best to listen as clearly as I could to what they were asking me. âDo you feel any pain anywhere?â Iris asked as she waved her Qwa over each part of my body. âN-no, w-whatâs happeningâ My head was spinning and my voice sounded as if it were coming from someone else. I just couldnât shake the groggy feeling.
âWe need to get her out of here, we canât stay hereâ I heard Persephlyn say before lifting me into the air again. We were moving so fast I didnât even have the time to register what I was seeing. Everything was a blur and with little to no control over my body, all I could do was hold on to his clothes. The wind was roaring in my ears and I shut my eyes too dizzy to focus and the last thing I wanted to do was vomit all over him.
I could hear Iris's soft, musical voice instructing us to follow her. We zigged and we zagged through the trees and undergrowth as we floated toward what I assumed would be safety. As I laid in Persephlyn's arms, my eyes slowly fluttered open again as I took in my surroundings more clearly. We arrived at a large lake with a small cottage perched atop the shoreline. The crystal clear water shimmered and rippled as if it were beckoning us forward and I could sense the peacefulness radiating from this place.
Iris opened the door to the wooden house and they all quickly filed inside, setting me down on what felt like a bed that immediately enveloped me with warmth like no other. My eyes drifted shut for a moment as I breathed in deeply feeling a weird sense of comfort by this place.

When I woke up again Persephlyn and Iris were standing over me, locked in a deep discussion.
âWe need to devise a plan of action here; we cannot keep running forever and the more we do the more we put her life and the lives of everyone in danger,â Persephlyn spoke, his voice was stern but hushed like he was trying not to wake me up.
